“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
Mahatma Gandhi
1869 - 1948
You hear it everywhere…”Live in the moment”, “There is only the now”, and my favorite, attributed to A. A. Milne, of Winnie The Pooh fame…”Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift. That’s why we call it the present.”
All of these idioms have filtered through our consciousness at one time or another and mostly we shrug it off and think, “What does that mean anyway?”
Mindfulness is a way of tuning into the value of these seemingly trivial expressions. Often the image of Buddhist monks or religious leaders in silent contemplation come to mind. Practicing Yoga and meditation are helpful tools to tune into your Higher Self. One thing is for sure, it does require solitude. Sometimes a simple request out to the universe can render an unexpected answer.
The approach is an individual as our fingerprint. One method certainly doesn't work for all, but what is standard, at the very beginning of this noble quest, is that one must obtain a resolute willingness to seek it out.
Personally, I call it God, but He goes by many names and cannot not be contained in a single word. The Infinite has no boundaries and it lives in you.
The constant demands of everyday living does have a way of distracting our focus…this has been a purposeful and calculated inundation in an effort to cloak our true potential. Before you know it you get swept away into years and then decades of lost opportunities to expand and grow your intended mission. Eventually, you find yourself looking for the place from which you came, only to realize it’s been with you the whole time. You just didn’t have the time, will or energy to seek it out.
The journey we share, as we walk each other home, presents us with many challenges. We stumble and fall and we get back up and continue on. That’s just what we do.
The thing here is that with the advent of the internet many of us get caught up in the whole world’s stumbling and falling and it can become an overwhelming sensation, mostly because we perceive that there is very little, if anything, we can do to stabilize the Earth. At least that’s the feeling…helplessness to assist is a difficult emotion to grasp yet, here we are. The endless headlines and reports of disaster, death and abuse grinds down our energy. It’s no wonder that we have a mental health crisis. This might sound crazy but our limitations are our strength. In our weakness there is only one place to turn and that is to God, the greatest strength to have ever existed.
Bearing in mind that the highest vibration is that of The Almighty, there can be no place to find Him than here and now. By raising your vibration in an effort to match up with God there comes an inner peace that nothing and no one can steal. “Be still and know I am God” (Psalm 46:10) is a profound invitation to recognize the power, strength and awesome presence of our Lord.
Very few of us have the wherewithal to retreat to the mountains in solitude or design a life dedicated to the sole purpose in seeking out our unlimited potential yet, if we can be still for a moment and tune out the constant barrage of negativity pressing down on us, an answer will be found and your purpose will become clear.
Until Next Time…Be Well My Friends

PS
My apologies for the lack of attention to my purpose during the month of September.
The whole month is a blur to me as I was laid out and unbelievably ill with pneumonia. Never in my life have I encountered such a debilitating and confounding ailment. The absolute exhaustion was felt deep down into my very soul and there were times where I thought I would never get enough rest to recover. It brought me a newfound regard for overall health and wellbeing and I now realize why I end my writing with “Be Well My Friends” for there truly isn't a better wish to bestow on you.
