SACRED SPACES

“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself over and over again.”

~Joseph Campbell

Throughout a lifetime we visit places we would like to see, the new and exciting locations that lure us with their beauty, uniqueness and intrigue. Some are drawn to the sea, others to the mountains, and there are those who are drawn to the forests. There are many environments that can call to one’s heart.

It really doesn’t matter where you are drawn to, what matters is that you make it a point to be there as much as possible. The inexplicable attraction is an innate response to a soul’s yearning and once you have found places that soothe you and refresh your outlook on life, it’s imperative that you spend time there.

Knowing that the earth has various meridians and magnetic frequencies proves that certain areas have frequency and/or energy that varies in levels. Massive monuments across the globe have been purposely erected in high frequency areas. Places like the pyramids at Giza, Stonehenge, Machu Picchu, et al, have a magnetic force that can refresh and revive the human spirit.

There is a small island off the coast of Spain called Ibiza. In a little town called Es Verde where, if you bring a compass, the needle will go crazy with no apparent explanation. The acoustic vibrations of Stonehenge echo throughout time. The Great Pyramids of Giza, the oldest of the 7 wonders, has a full array of vibrations, energy and frequencies. Once thought to be a tomb for royalty, more recently some scientists believe that it could have been some sort of power plant for the citizens, rendering energy from the earth.

To understand the concept of energy levels, Giza emits a vibration of 30. Humans emanate somewhere around 10, but most days hover between 2 and 6.

We, as a human race, are energy personified. The average human, at rest, puts out 100 watts of power and could reach up to 2000 watts at a sprint. At this point you begin to understand the concept of the movie, The Matrix.

Suffice to say that energy and vibrations surround us and are within us…animates us. Nicola Tesla once famously said, “If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.”

We’ve all felt certain positive or negative energies as we traverse the earth. One such place for me was an old 1700s building that became a restaurant. Once, while dining out with my family there, I was immediately struck with a sense of dread. I was so uncomfortable I couldn’t eat my food and insisted my husband not leave the table. Needless to say we were out of there pretty quickly and left the doggy bags behind. When researching the area I came to find that in 1915 there were 5 villages, directly across from that restaurant, that were declared eminent domain and destined to be flooded for a water supply for Providence, RI. It is known as the Scituate Reservoir. All residents were forced to leave their homes, which was a tragedy in and of itself. That being said, I can’t really put my finger on what it was that caused such a visceral reaction. I sometimes think it could have been the energy of someone in the place at the time, or perhaps some malevolent spirit that had settled in. At any rate, I couldn’t get out of there fast enough.

Everyone experiences these phenomena to one degree or another. On the other side of the spectrum is the strong sense of belonging you feel when a location touches you so deeply that you are inexplicably drawn to return, time and time again. It is a regenerative pilgrimage that can last a lifetime. Without question sacred spaces can be as individual as a fingerprint. Certain places captivate more people because the universal attraction can be felt by many. An example would be the ocean. It is known that the sea emits negative ions which have a soothing and positive influence on the human spirit.

In a world where negativity and oppressive energy are abundant, we find ourselves struggling to overcome the deluge of aggressive demonic forces. Find yourself, or make yourself, a sanctuary where nothing and no one can impede on the love and blessing that is given to you to share. Ultimately, the most sacred space lies within you.

Be well my friends.
